- 1 lb ground beef (or chicken/turkey for a healthier version)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices (optional)
- Cheese slices (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Patties:
- Take the ground beef and shape it into four equal-sized patties. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.

- Cook the Patties:
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
- Place the patties on the skillet or grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- If you’re using cheese, place a slice of cheese on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking, covering the pan to melt the cheese.

- Toast the Buns:
- While the patties are cooking, lightly butter the burger buns and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the Burger:
- Start by placing the lettuce on the bottom bun.
- Add the cooked patty with cheese on top of the lettuce.
- Add a slice of tomato, onion, and pickles if desired.
- Top with your favorite condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo).
- Place the top bun on the assembled ingredients.
- Serve:
- Serve your burger with fries, chips, or a salad on the side.
Enjoy your homemade burger!
